Nuova psp in arrivo?

For months, rumors have been circulating about either a redesign or a successor to Sony's PSP handheld. This week, the flames of speculation were further fanned by a job listing on the official Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Web site for an "evaluator/assessor" for a "new game machine." According to a GameSpot translation by a fluent Japanese speaker, the new machine is "part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals."

The PSP-3000...soon to be obsolete?

The job listing goes on to state that, if accepted, evaluator/assessor applicants will "be part of an advisory staff that will play PlayStation series software on this new machine and check its functionality. They will also be able to "test game machines not yet released or new functionality of PS3 peripherals before they are released." (Emphasis added.)

So what exactly is this new "game machine"? Is it a new PSP, as some suspect, or simply some sort of new peripheral for the PSP or PS3? When contacted by GameSpot, Sony Computer Entertainment reps said they were working on a response, which had not been issued as of press time.

If the device in question is a new model of the existing PSP platform, it would be the fourth iteration and third redesign of the handheld since its Western release in 2005. The first revamp, the PSP-2000, was unveiled at E3 2007 and offered a slimmer chassis and video-output support. The second revision, the PSP-3000 that launched last October, offered a brighter LCD screen, built-in microphone for use with Skype, and interlaced video output.

Dicono che sì tratti di una nuova periferica con buone probabilità, però nulla di ufficiale e solo voci di corridoio.

Una PSP nuova ipoteticamente sarebbe un buon prodotto da vendere, venendo anche dal grosso successo dell'attuale.

Sinceramente non vedo cosa spingerebbe un gamer a comprarsi una nuova PSP, a meno che non sia un fanboy Sony. Un salto avanti sostanziale a livello di grafica non penso che sia prevedibile, correggetemi se sbaglio, le funzioni che ci potevano infilare le ha già praticamente tutte, perlomeno quelle di peso, e in generale non vedo niente di prevedibile che possa invogliare un possessore di PSP a cambiare, tanto meno quando questa è una di quelle uscite l'anno scorso.

Io non escluderei che in qualche modo diventi interattiva, con un touch screen o qualcosa di simile.

January 26, 2009 - The evolution of the PSP has been one of small incremental updates rather than drastic aesthetic and hardware reconfigurations. Since its debut in 2005 the PSP has undergone two mild hardware adjustments with the PSP-2000 and the PSP-3000. While the 2000 series altered the handheld in terms of form -- slimming down the hardware by 33% in weight, and 19% in thickness -- the 3000 series made some notable functional improvements, such as a built-in microphone. The 2000 and 3000 series ensured the continued success of the PSP brand across North America and Europe, many gamers have been clamoring for a full-fledged PSP 2 for months.

Although Sony has consistently denied that any such product is in development, rumors and predictions have been circling for over a year about a forthcoming PSP 2. Last week we posted our predictions for the seemingly inevitable sequel to the popular handheld, citing hardware improvements like dual thumbsticks and a touch screen interface, but now we've learned that our hopes and dreams for the system may be, in part, dead on the money.


IGN has learned from several credible sources that the PSP 2 is indeed on the horizon, and will be packing multi-touch technology. According to our sources, the PSP 2 will feature a widescreen multi-touch interface comparable to that of the iPhone for both in-game control and menu navigation. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure any additional details on the alleged new system, but this latest batch of rumors seems to fall in line with other recent claims orbiting the vast recesses of the internet.

This latest batch of rumors comes on the heels of an allegedly official Sony survey leaked by enthusiast blog, PSPFanboy.com, which asked consumers what features would compel them the most to buy a new PSP. Among the choices offered by the survey were a touch screen interface, Bluetooth support, an integrated hard drive, GPS, and nationwide wireless networking. If true, the survey seems to further suggest that Sony is in the process of drastically revising the PSP's core hardware.


We contacted Sony representatives for further comment on the matter, but their response was unsurprisingly straight out of the rumor-response playbook, "We can't comment on rumors or speculation."

Ormai sembra manchi solo l'ufficialità, una nuova PSP è in arrivo e verrà annunciata o alla GDC o all'E3 di quest'anno.
La PSP-4000 non sarà una PSP2, ma piuttosto sarà un completo restyling a livello estetico, basato sulle tecnologie della attuale PSP.
Una fonte definita sicura ha confermato che la nuova PSP avrà uno sliding screen e che la versione finale non sarà troppo differente dal concept postato qui sotto.

Come già ipotizzato da Eurogamer nel dicembre scorso, la stessa fonte ha rivelato che l'uscita è prevista per l'anno corrente, probabilmente durante il quarto quadrimestre.

Brutta e non modoficabile.... beh è la strategia Sony, bellezze!
Se emula la PS2, la compro.

Non e il disegno ufficiale quello eh,e solo per dare un idea

Penso non sia la forma ufficiale, però non è malaccio, solo che da l'impressione di spaccarsi al minimo urto. Anche lo schermo pare grande.

Poi bisogna vedere cosa avrà di differente da questa PSP, che comunque non possiedo e quindi non posso dare giudizi. In fondo hanno fatto il DSi, Sony può provare a fare una quasi nuova PSP

C'è scritto che non è niente di ufficiale, ma solo qualcosa che si può avvicinare....cmq anche secondo me lo schermo e la console sono veramente grosse, secondo me sarà parechio più piccola.

Sarà probabilmente un fake, ma lo posto comunque...
